Welcome, I’m Colin Palmer, half of the creative team behind Essential Episodes. Comedy has always been an important part of my life, starting with television sketch comedy (the likes of Monty Python, Kids in the Hall, and Mr. Show), but once I started studying theatre history and dramaturgy in college, I have been spending a lot of my time focusing on different forms of entertainment (especially television) that can be both high and low brow. TV can be entertaining while at the same time making a comment about the world; those two ideas are not mutually exclusive. I hope that my articles are an interesting way of thinking about new shows for all of you, or helping you engage with shows that you’ve enjoyed in the past.
